project to collect and publish letters that John Hargreaves sent
to friends and individuals has
brought forth tremendous support from around the world.
This collection will be published as a two-volume book set reflecting the ideas and insights
he shared during his years of Christian Science practice.
Barbara Hargreaves, John's wife and partner in the practice for
many years, conceived this idea based on how well received
"Principle and Practice" has been. You may know
that "Principle and Practice" is a wonderful collection
of letters sent by Hendrik de Lange to his worldwide practice,
now offered by Mulberry Press as a 365-page hardback book.
The
MP editorial team is now working with the manuscript for the two
volumes based on the hundreds
letters that were shared by
the original recipients. We have selected those that will be included,
deleting personal references, and
finalizing the categorization of the letters into topics. Much
progress has been made in organizing the letters, many of which
were handwritten. Many others were nearly lost because the early
fax copies have faded a great deal.
The letters are very substantive and inspiring. John was a
deeply thoughtful and excellent writer who took great delight in
gathering the facts of being and sharing these through his
letters. Today, the rich legacy of these letters continues to
bring forth blessings for all who read them. This book-length
collection will continue to inspire greater understanding of
Christian Science and help readers to find answers to questions
that arise.
In order to make it easier for readers to take this on
travels and to share them with friends and family, this
collection will be
produced as a two-volume set, with each volume being
approximately 150 pages. We expect the set will go on sale
in September after several rounds of proofing and final
checking. The price has been set tentatively as $20 per volume
and $35 for the set plus shipping from the U.S.
